The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has signed an agreement with Oman Tourism College to facilitate academic collaboration between the institutions.

The memorandum of understanding establishes a partnership in teaching, research, student exchange, faculty exchange, technology transfer, publication, curriculum development, joint projects and training.

Timothy Carr, chair of UNL's Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences, led the delegation to Oman and handed over the document signed by Chancellor Harvey Perlman.

"Our students and faculty will benefit from the educational opportunities, professional development activities and joint program development initiatives we envision to enhance capacity at both institutions," Perlman said during an an earlier visit to Oman.

Abdulkarim Sultan Al Mughairi, dean of Oman Tourism College, said the agreement will help expand the college's mission of supporting Oman's tourism industry.

Oman is one of UNL's most significant partners in the Middle East. About 120 Omani students study at UNL. They have formed an organization to help other UNL students learn about Oman and its culture.
