Project EXCEED


A small group of children with autism will be included in the half-day early childhood program at the Ruth Staples Child Development Lab. In addition to the innovative and inclusive educational approached utilized in the Ruth Staples program, children participating in Project EXCEED will receive specialized intervention. Project EXCEED will provide services to enhance the development of critical learning skills based on the individual needs of participating children with autism.

Project EXCEED (Excellence in Collaborative Education & Early Development) & Ruth Staples Child Development Lab will be accepting applications for preschool children with an educational verification or medical diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder to take part in a research, teaching and service project as part of the Ruth Staples child development program.

Project EXCEED enrollment for the 2009-10 academic year is open to children born before August 24, 2006. A child who is five years of age by October 15, 2009 will be considered kindergarten-eligible and therefore may not participate in Project EXCEED*. The program takes place Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

Children and families who are selected to participate in Project EXCEED will be asked to consent to additional assessment and intervention that make take place outside of the program hours. Space for participants is limited and selection will follow Ruth Staples procedures.
