Deanne Splattstoesser, Ed.S., CCC-SLP is a clinical supervisor, instructor, and federal grant coordinator specializing in language and its effect on communication, behavior and learning. She also has special interests in educational administration/supervision and educational technology.
In the UNL Barkley Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic, Deanne supervises graduate students in practica that include assessment and intervention services for preschool and school age children who experience difficulties with language and literacy. Within the Department, Deanne co-teaches a graduate course in counseling and behavior, designed for students in the Speech-Language Pathology Masters (M.S.) and Doctorate of Audiology (Au.D.) programs. In addition, she teaches a special topics seminar.
Deanne's appointment also includes coordinating a federal personnel preparation grant project funded by the U.S. Office of Special Education (OSEP), Project RTI: Building Capacity Together to Implement Response to Intervention. The Project is designed to prepare pre-service speech-language pathologists to collaborate with general and special educators to prevent and intervene with children experiencing reading difficulties, using an RTI model.
Professional leadership includes President of the Nebraska Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NSLHA) and administrator of the professional association's web site www.nslha.org. Deanne is also a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), including Special Interest Division 11-Administration and Supervision. In addition, she is a member of the Nebraska Council of School Administrators (NCSA) and the Nebraska Association of Special Education Supervisors (NASES).
