Program Requirements A student, in consultation with his/her advisor, will elect either Option I (thesis program) or Option III (non-thesis program). It is anticipated that it will take approximately two years including at least one Summer Semester to complete all academic and clinical requirements. A minimum of 48 semester hours is required for the Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Option I (the thesis program) requires 34 semester hours of "core" coursework, 6 semester hours of Thesis Research, SLPA 899, and 8 semester hours of electives within the SLPA department. Option III (the non-thesis program) also requires completion of 34 semester hours of "core" coursework. In addition, students must complete either 3 semester hours of Directed Research, SLPA 896, or 2 semester hours of Evidence-based Practice, SLPA 870. The remaining 11 or 12 required semester hours are from electives within the SLPA department. Review an advising check sheet for your program.
