Endorsement or Certification

 
The Division of Special Education offers two graduate level options related to endorsement:
Masters Degree and Endorsement in Severe Disabilities 
Individuals may pursue a combination Masters Degree and Endorsement in Severe Disabilities. For more information, see Masters Degree in  Special Education with emphasis in Severe Disabilities.

 Endorsement only in Severe Disabilities Individuals may choose to pursue an endorsement to teach in the area of severe disabilities without pursuing a Masters Degree.

Prerequisites

Candidate must hold a Nebraska Mild/Moderate Teaching Endorsement in Special Education (or equivalent) to enter the program.

SPED 400/800 (3 cr) Characteristics of Exceptional Persons (or equivalent)
SPED 812 (3 cr) Assessment Techniques for Diverse Learners (or equivalent)
SPED 814 (2 cr) Behavior Management (or equivalent)
SPED 814 (3 cr) Instructional Methods for Students with Diverse Needs (or equivalent)
