Barb does not ignore the darkest side of problems confronting youth. She addresses the ugliest of issues with courage and determination. Barb is cautious, but unrelenting, when she sees a child in trouble. She knows that she may be the only lifeline some kids have.
She is not afraid of 'red tape' if her involvement in a situation could help a child. She talks with kids about drugs and sex in a way that shows an acceptance of their growing pains but a desire to lead them into sound moral decisions.
