Michael Tolfa
Year: 1991
School: North Loup-Scotia School System
Position: Head of Science Department and Science Teacher
He not only instructs his students, but challenges them and inspires them to explore, research, question, evaluate and form opinions on every subject that he presents in class, as well as what they are exposed to in their private lives. He exemplifies and teaches citizenship in the classroom, community, state, nation, and world. He encourages good stewardship of resources, including the resource of a student's mind.
He allows his students to explore, experiment and then deal with the consequences. He challenges and expects his students to go beyond what is the acceptable minimum of performance, in all areas, and they seem to excel.
