IQSCM receives NAC grant

The International Quilt Study Center & Museum (IQSCM) announced July 7, 2015 that it has been awarded a grant of $27,540 by the Nebraska Arts Council. This grant will support the museum’s programs, operations and exhibitions during 2015-2016 fiscal year.

Nebraska Arts Council Executive Director Suzanne Wise commended the museum for its programs, noting that, “The International Quilt Study Center & Museum does an outstanding job of providing arts activities in Nebraska. It is through fine organizations like this that Nebraska’s children receive a better education in the arts, and the quality of life is improved for all Nebraskans.”

The NAC grant will go to support upcoming exhibitions including “African American Quilts from the Cargo Collection,” “Favorites from the Byron and Sara Rhodes Dillow Collection, 'Man Made'” and more. The museum opened a new expansion in June, which increased  exhibition space.

“It is an honor to have the support of steadfast organizations like the Nebraska Arts Council,” said Quilt House Executive Director Leslie Levy. “As Nebraskans, we are fortunate to enjoy a rich tapestry of history and cultural heritage. Funds from the Nebraska Arts Council enable us to grasp those mission-specific opportunities—wonderful programing, unique educational workshops and dynamic exhibitions that enable us to engage and foster our communities.”

The International Quilt Study Center & Museum at Quilt House is home of the world’s largest publicly held quilt collection. Established in 1997, the center opened a new museum in 2008. The privately-funded, environmentally sustainable museum houses more than 4,500 quilts and objects, state-of-the-art research and storage space and spacious galleries.
