13 Dec 2013

Stacie Ray, assistant professor of practice in Special Education and Communication Disorders, received the Service to Mankind award from the Gateway Sertoma Club for her work at the local and state levels with HearU Nebraska and the Sertoma Hearing Aid Bank housed at the Barkley Memorial Center. Ray was also recognized for her work with Montclair State University to develop their hearing aid bank based on the model at UNL.

In honor of Ray, the Gateway Sertoma Club donated $2000 to HearU Nebraska, a foundation fund that she initiated to provide amplification devices to children identified with hearing loss from birth to age 18 and whose families do not have the financial resources to purchase devices.
