Admission to the College

Effective
the 2003-04 school year, the College of Education and
Human Sciences and the College of Human Resources and
Family Sciences have merged to form what is now known
as the College of Education and Human Sciences. For
awhile, there will be some inconsistencies regarding
entrance requirements into the various programs/majors
offered within the new college.

Does the CEHS have its own admission requirements?
It's important to note that although
a student may be admitted to the University, he/she may
not initially qualify for admittance to the College of
Education and Human Sciences because of high school core
deficiencies, ACT/SAT scores, high school ranking, or
a combination of these. Students not meeting the colleges
entrance requirements are usually assigned to the Division
of General Studies until which time they become eligible
to enter the College of Education and Human Sciences.
What happens after I'm admitted as a pre-education student?
All newly admitted students to the college, except those in non-teaching majors are classified as pre-education students until they apply and are admitted to a Teacher Education Program, typically sometime during their second or third year. Admission to the advanced phase of Teacher Education is selective, and in some endorsements, highly competitive.
