Subject areas in which post baccalaureate certification can be earned have distinct requirements that meet UNL's program and/or the State of Nebraska certification requirements. The subject areas available are:

- Business Education (Grades 7-12)
- Industrial Technology Education (Grades 7-12)
- Math Education (Grades 7-12)
- Modern Foreign Language Education (Grades 7-12)
- Science Education (Grades 7-12)
- Special Education (various areas and levels)
- Family and Consumer Science (Grades 7-12)
- Inclusive Early Childhood Education (Birth-Grade 3)
Coursework includes opportunities to infuse theory and practice considering the nature of learners, learning, teachers and teaching, while embracing the stated learning outcomes for the teacher education programs. Individuals interested in pursuing a post baccalaureate teacher certification program should contact Joyce Richter 472-8635 or simply Schedule an Appointment.
In addition to subject area requirements, all certification candidates must complete the following education classes:

- Foundations of Education - TEAC 430/830, 431/831 or 434/834

- Psychology of Learning - EDPS 454/854
- Multicultural Education - TEAC 330/86

- Teaching Methods #2 - TEAC 452/852 *
- Practicum (classroom experience) - TEAC 397/894 *

Some certification areas require a one-hour student teaching seminar. (CURR 403/803)
* Only those students pursuing a Math, Science or Modern Language, Art, Family and Consumer Science, & Inclusive Teaching Certification may have the option of taking these classes at the graduate level (TEAC 851, 852, 894, and 897/803). Graduate level professional education courses are not available for Business, or Industrial Technology and these certification areas must take their professional education classes at the undergraduate level. All pre-professional classes may be taken at the graduate level and are encouraged. Teachers can move up the pay scale when they have 18+ graduate level courses.
It is not recommended that you "self-advise" through this program. Taking one course out of sequence can cause you a year delay in your program.
