Post Bac Courses for Licensure/Certification

Students with a bachelors degree but who are not certified in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) may take post-baccalaureate courses leading to FCS licensure/certification. Another option is to work on certification and your masters degree in FCS education at the same time (click here to see that option).

Students must meet the requirements below to be admitted to the FCS licensure program. Students can apply to the program while taking courses:
1. Completion of at least six hours in Education and Human Sciences.
2. Tentative long range plan approved by advisor.
3. Overall undergraduate GPA of 2.50. Only University of Nebraska-Lincoln courses will be used to determine GPA.
4. Demonstration of competence in basic skills (reading, writing, and math) as evidenced by a passing score on an accepted basic skills test (PPST Pre Professional Skills Test).

Contact Dr. Julie Johnson for information on obtaining licensure (see contact information). She will send you, either by mail or email attachment, information about our on campus post bac program or a masters degree which may lead to certification when combined with required courses.

Dr. Johnson or Joyce Richter (an on-campus advisor) will review your transcripts and give you information about completing requirements.
