| Child Development/Early Childhood Education includes child development theory, research, professional practice and application. Study leads to professions that include teaching in early childhood education settings, child development program management and other child service professions. | Family and Consumer Sciences Education program meets the requirements for the Nebraska Secondary Teaching Certificate (grades 7 - 12) with an endorsement in Family and Consumer Sciences and the Family and Consumer Sciences Related Occupations endorsement (if additional requirements are met). |
| Inclusive Early Childhood Education: Birth to Grade 3 is a program developed in collaboration with CYAF, Special Education, and Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education. The program is multi-disciplinary, combining the areas of early childhood education, special education and elementary education. The program prepares students to become licensed teachers of children from birth to grade 3. | Family Science (Lincoln campus and Omaha campus) is a comprehensive program grounded in family science theory, research and professional practice and application. Students will gain knowledge and intervention skills to help individuals prevent and remedy interpersonal problems experienced in family relationships, and manage personal finances, building on the family's strengths. This path prepares graduates for careers in non-profit social service agencies, government agencies serving families, and financial service agencies. |
| Child, Youth and Family Studies /Journalism & Mass Communications (Lincoln campus) is a
joint program between CYAF and the UNL College of Journalism and Mass Communications.
The student combines a broad background in child, youth and family studies
with one area of journalism. Career opportunities include broadcasting news,
editing, reporting, photography, advertising and sales. Child, Youth and Family Studies/Journalism & Mass Media (Omaha campus) is also available on the Omaha campus, and is joint with School of Communications. This is a broad-based, multi-disciplinary program encompassing course work in child, youth and family studies and journalism. The student selects one area from public relations, news editorial, or broadcasting. |
