Important Announcement for Non-Resident Distance Education Students in the Department of Educational Administration

A variety of tuition rates for the University of Nebraska System for the 2008-09 Academic Year were recently approved by the University of Nebraska Board of Regents.

In line with the University approved rates, tuition and fees for Non-resident, online students in the Department of Educational Administration were established at $455 per credit hour (compared to approximately $570 per credit hour for on-campus graduate students). The $490.35 per credit hour includes the following:

  • tuition $455.00 per credit hour
  • distance education fee $25.00 per credit hour
  • technology fee $7.35 per credit hour
  • registration fee $20.00 per semester
  • library fee $3.00 per credit hour

Other fees established by the University of Nebraska are the responsibility of the student.

In 2005, the Department of Educational Administration developed and submitted a business plan to University officials requesting the department be allowed to establish a tuition and fee rate for the distance courses (S and D) for non-resident students under the Market Driven Tuition Differential Plan (MDTD). Under the plan, the department will retain a small portion of the tuition and fee money to fund new faculty positions, improve online delivery, and fund necessary improvements to department programs. Several other colleges and departments have also been approved for MDTD plans; i.e.; Entomology, Architecture, and Engineering.

The Market Driven Tuition Differentiated plan is a unique way for departments and colleges to support their high priority programs in times of decreasing state support. We are grateful to have the opportunity to engage in the program. Even though it increases the contribution from students tuition, it provides necessary resources to continue and improve our efforts to support a student body that is increasingly national and international in scope.

Thank you for your understanding and your continued support.
