Graduate Certificate

Admission Requirements:

Students seeking admission for a graduate certificate will need to:

  1. Complete a Graduate Studies application for non-degree seeking students: http://www.unl.edu/gradstudies/prospective/apply.shtml
  2. Pay the $45 application fee
  3. Submit two transcripts of all college work completed to date

Students seeking a certificate must also be approved by the Family and Consumer Sciences Department.

The GRE (Graduate Record Exam) is not required.

Course Requirements:
Each certificate requires 12 hours and a one-hour foundations course for a total of 13 credit hours. The foundations course is required in either program.

Proseminar in Youth Development (1 cr)

Four of the courses listed for 12 credits:
Youth Development (3 cr)
Community Youth Development (3 cr)
Adolescents and Their families (3 cr)
Youth in Cultural Contexts (3 cr)
Youth Policy (3 cr)
Contemporary Youth Issues and Life Skills (2 cr)

Courses for the Youth Program Management and Evaluation Certificate:

Proseminar in Youth Development (1 cr)

Program Design, Implementation and Evaluation (3 cr)
Program Administration (3 cr)
Youth Development Professionals as Consumers of Research (3 cr)
Youth Policy (3 cr)
Contemporary Youth Issues and Life Skills (2 cr)
