FCS GROUPS/ORGANIZATIONS

* Pre-Professional/Graduate Student Section: American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) is a professional organization representing professionals in family and consumer sciences. It serves as the umbrella organization for undergraduate/ graduate students involved within the Family and Consumer Sciences, Nutrition and Health Sciences, and Textiles, Clothing and Design departments in the College of Education and Human Sciences; however, all students in CEHS are eligible to join.

*The purpose of the Family Science Organization (FSO) is to assist students in the development of a professional goal. Students will be able to explore potential career opportunities in the field of Family Science, discuss with professionals extracurricular activities that prepare them for those careers, and dovetail their educational experience with their career goals. Another major objective of the organization is to provide parents with information regarding their child's future career opportuities.

* Nebraska Students for Young Children (NSYC) includes undergraduate and graduate students who have interests in young children. NSYC encourages its members to join the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

CEHS GROUPS/ORGANIZATIONS

* CEHS Student Ambassadors
The mission of the Ambassadors is to promote pride and develop awareness of CEHS programs. Thirteen undergraduate students are selected each year by an application, recommendation and interview process. Students selected represent each department and class rank, are full-time undergraduate students, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50.

* CEHS Undergraduate Student Advisory Board
Composed of nine students selected by their peers representing each department. Members of the board represent the College on ASUN and serve as a liaison between students and faculty to communicate the needs and desires of students.

* Phi Upsilon Omicron
Members are chosen based upon scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

* Kappa Omicron Nu
Promotion of scholarship, graduate study, and research are the major objectives of the honorary. Only those individuals who meet the highest scholarship standards are eligible for membership.
