  • Ginny Burk, NICPP intern at Beatrice State Developmental Center, has accepted a postdoctoral position at the Moore Counseling Center. They are currently building a new regional autism center for the Oklahoma area, and Ginny will be their adult autism specialist for the new facility.
  • Nicole Lozano, NICPP intern at Center for Health and Counseling, Creighton University, successfully defended her dissertation, The Impact of Sexual Violence on Intimate Relationship Dynamics: A Grounded Theory Study, at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, and has accepted a position as Assistant Professor in Counselor Education at Sam Houston State University following internship.

  • Matthew Shanahan, former NICPP intern at Catholic Social Services, successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis, "Mathematical Modeling of Stress Management via Decisional Control," supervised by Dr. Richard W.J. Neufeld at Western University - Canada.
  • The Nebraska Internship Consortium in Professional Psychology completed the APA re-accreditation process in 2009 and was granted full accreditation by the American Psychological Association for the next seven years. Our next re-accreditation visit is in 2016.

Faculty Accomplishments

  • Dr. Jane Close Conley, the inaugural director of NICPP, has been appointed president of California State University, Long Beach.
  • Dr. Jeff Snell (Training Director, QLI) presented “An Overview of Brain Injury” as an invited keynote address to the Brain Injury Regional School Support Team (BIRSST) Symposium, Brain Injury:  The Learning Curve, in Omaha, NE, on February 16, 2016.  He also presented on the topic of “Pain Rehabilitation: A Tri-Dimensional Approach” in a webinar for the AlarisGroup nursing staff via global.gotowebinar.com on January 5, 2016. Dr. Snell presented “The Cerebellum: The little brain” in an invited presentation to the clinical rehabilitation staff at Methodist Medical Center as part of “Rehab Week,” in Omaha, NE, September 22, 2015.  On April 16, 2015, Dr. Snell presented “The role of cognitive behavioral therapy in brain injury rehabilitation” in a plenary session at the 9th Annual Nebraska Brain Injury Conference, Kearney, NE, and on March 4, 2015, he presented “Under Construction:  The Human Brain” as part of the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) “Science Café” series, in Omaha, NE.  Dr. Snell presented “Decision-making:  From the inside out” as an invited presentation to Thrasher Systems leadership conference, in Omaha, NE, on February 25, 2015.  Dr. Snell presented on the topic “Demystifying Neuropsychological Assessment”  at the Nationwide / Allied Insurance Adjustor’s Meeting in Lincoln, NE on January 6, 2015;  the Nationwide / Allied Insurance Adjustor’s Meeting in Des Moines, IA on August 12, 2015; and the Nebraska Insurance & Claims Conference in LaVista, NE on October 16, 2015.  At the October 25, 2014 TEDx Omaha event, Dr. Snell presented “Gadgets and Grey Matter:  Innovation in Rehab Technology.”
  • Dr. Rachel Valleley (Supervisor, Munroe-Meyer Institute) was nominated and asked to serve on the Collaborative Care Research Network (CCRN), an arm of the National Research Network of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
