The Nebraska Center for the Prevention of Obesity Diseases (NPOD) hosted this year’s annual retreat on April 12, 2017 at the Sheldon Museum of Art on the UNL campus.   The retreat was  a free, day-long event for faculty, postdocs, students, staff, industry partners, and other interested parties to provide an opportunity to explore relevant topics and to network with fellow researchers in academia and industry.   The theme this year was "Obesity" and featured internationally recognized experts (l to r): Joel Elmquist, UT Southwestern, NPOD Director Janos Zempleni, Lisa Cassis, University of Kentucky, Robert Raffai, UC San Francisco.

 Poster Competition and Reception

The retreat concluded in the afternoon with a poster session that provided an opportunity for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers to showcase their research.  This reception for all attendees also provided an opportunity for conversation with the speakers.  The posters were judged by NPOD faculty.  Certificates and cash awards were announced at the end of the day for the 3 top posters (l to r): Elena Merrick, Tasneem Bouzid, Ezra Mutai, pictured with NPOD Director Janos Zempleni.
