My laboratory uses and develops a variety of biochemical, molecular biology, cell biology, and metabolic techniques to better understand the mechanism of action of natural bioactive compounds found in foods and evaluate their therapeutic potential against chronic metabolic disorders, such as obesity and type-2 diabetes, and associated cardiovascular dysfunction. Currently, we are investigating how sulfur-containing compounds regulate fat metabolism and cellular bioenergetics through alteration of mammalian gene expression.
