WELCOME:  The University of Nebraska – Lincoln will host the annual meeting this year and we are pleased to invite all participants to join us June 3-4, 2013, here in Lincoln, NE.  The meeting will be held in 304 Leverton Hall, UNL East Campus, Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences, and will begin at 9:00 each day and will conclude at 5:00 on Monday.  A no-host dinner is being arranged for Monday evening for all participants and details will be announced at the meeting.  On Tuesday, the meeting will end by 4:00 PM to accommodate late afternoon or evening flights as early at 5:30 PM.  It is recommended that all participants plan to arrive in Lincoln by Sunday, June 2. 
 
REGISTRATION AND $45 MEETING FEES:  To register, open the “W2002 Registration” tab found on this website and save the pdf to your computer.  Complete the registration form, print and mail it with your check made payable to the University of Nebraska – Lincoln to the address on the form.  The form and your check must be received no later than May 27 by the Program Coordinator at UNL in order to confirm your registration and so we can plan accordingly.  The registration fee of $45 includes coffee, tea, lunch, afternoon break refreshments, and shuttle service between the hotel and UNL East Campus each day.  Breakfast is provided at the Embassy Suites for all guests and the dinner on Monday night is at the participant’s expense. 
 
LINCOLN AIRPORT:  It is recommended that you fly into the Lincoln Airport which is conveniently located approximately 15-20 minutes from the hotel and the conference site on the UNL East Campus.  If you should decide to fly into the Omaha Airport which is approximately 50 miles north of Lincoln, you will need to make your own reservation for shuttle service and will want to plan on adding up to 2 hours of additional travel time each way.
 
TRAVEL BY CAR:  If you choose to travel by car from the surrounding states and are coming in from the west, you will take I-80 to the I-180 “downtown” exit.  I-180 turns into 9th Street. Stay on this, turn left on P Street, and proceed to the Embassy Suites at 1040 P Street.  Or, if you are coming in from the east or south and coming in on Highway 2, continue until this turns into 10th Street.  Continue downtown and turn right on P Street and proceed as noted above.  Parking on campus is limited and requires a permit so it is recommended that you leave your car in one of the public parking garages that provides Embassy Suites guest parking (maximum $9 overnight fee) located on both the east and west sides of the hotel and take the Embassy shuttle to and from East Campus both days.
 
EMBASSY SUITES SHUTTLE SERVICE FROM THE AIRPORT:  There is a phone with a direct line to the Embassy Suites located by the luggage return on the 1st floor of the Lincoln Airport.  When you arrive at the airport, you will use this phone to contact the hotel and request the shuttle.
 
EMBASSY SUITES HOTEL INFORMATION:  A block of rooms has been reserved at the Embassy Suites, 1040 P Street, Lincoln, NE, (phone 402.474.1111).  To confirm a room and to take advantage of our special rate, your reservation must be made by Friday, May 17 The hotel has given us a special rate of $119/single or double, $134 triple, or $149 quad per night and this includes a hot breakfast and a cocktail hour each day.  This rate is available for rooms from May 31 through June 5 should you like to come earlier or leave later.  Follow this link, http://embassysuites.hilton.com/en/es/groups/personalized/L/LNKESES-NIF-20130531/index.jhtml?WT.mc_id=POG   to make your reservation or you may call the hotel at 402.474.1111.  The Group Name you’ll mention is “USDA/NIFA MULTI-State Meeting” and the Group Code is “NIF.”
 
UNL CAMPUS PARKING:  If you are arriving by car and prefer to park on the UNL campus for the meeting, contact Jolene Walker, Program Coordinator, at jwalker5@unl.edu for a parking pass and driving directions.
 
EMBASSY SHUTTLE SERVICE BETWEEN THE HOTEL AND THE UNL EAST CAMPUS:  The Embassy shuttle will need to make two trips in order to bring all of the participants to the meeting site and will leave the hotel at 8:20 and 8:40 AM, and return to the Embassy on Monday beginning at 5:00 PM and again at 5:20.  On Tuesday, the shuttle will take participants from the meeting site to the airport leaving at 4:00 and again at 4:30.
