What Parents Say...

"When we were first alerted that our daughter was struggling with reading, her MAP scores were well below average, she was not reading on grade level, and we were worried. A teacher at my daughter's school recommended Schmoker's to us, and I immediately applied for a spot for her. After 3 sessions (fall, spring, and summer) of tutoring at Schmoker's, my daughter is now reading one grade level above her current grade. Her MAP scores in all areas, not just reading and language arts, are now in the above average range. Not only is the tutoring offered at Schmoker's research-based with professors watching over and guiding the tutors, but it is also affordable. The tutoring she has received at Schmoker's has been a miracle for our daughter, and we are forever grateful."

"The Kit and Dick Schmoker Reading Center was my last ray of hope for getting [my son] help. For me, it's been like magic. [He] is more confident at school and will volunteer to read, which he never would do before."

"They helped improve [my daughter's] confidence in reading, and comprehension of what she was reading."

"[My daughter] has shown an increase in her ability and it has given her more confidence that she can read better and understand."

"I particularly like the one-to-one attention that was given to my child. The very informative assessments were also a great help to me and my child's teacher."

How can you help?

You can help provide a semester of tutoring for a child. The Schmoker Reading Center has a Scholarship Fund for families who may need assistance with tuition. A donation of $250 would support one child's tutoring for a full semester.
