Interactive Rural Resources: Search this site!

The Rural Resources Project web site is an "archive" site that is intended to be used by Nebraska educators as a teaching tool. The web sites purpose is twofold:  to put teachers across Nebraska in communication with one another in order to enhance teaching, and generate or share teaching ideas; and, to teach students about their Nebraska heritage.  Sources are listed primarily in an annotated bibliographic style, although efforts are being made to make the web site more interactive and easily navigable. This is an ongoing project. We have included a  teaching unit on John G. Neihardt's When the Tree Flowered by Vivian Eucker, and are interested in posting more teaching units. We are interested in any  suggestions  you may have for resources in our building process.

The web site covers literature, art, music, architecture, history, film, and folk art in the periods of American Indians, explorers, pioneers through 1890s, 20th century through WWI, the Roaring '20s, Depression and Dust Bowl to WWII, and post-WWII including the 1960s revolt, civil rights movements, the farm crisis of the 1980s, and the farm crisis of the '90s.

The RRP web site links to many other sites in Nebraska and elsewhere which have relevant information to Nebraska humanities. These include the Museum of Nebraska Art in Kearney, the Sheldon Art Gallery, the Joslyn, the Nebraska State Historical Society, the Nebraska Humanities Council, the Nebraska Arts Council, Creighton literature site, valuable University of Nebraska sites, and many others.
