Emily Wakefield, Au.D., CCC-A, joined the Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders as a lecturer and clinical supervisor in the audiology clinic in June 2017 after spending more than two years as an adjunct lecturer and clinical supervisor at the department. She was promoted to assistant professor of practice in July 2021.
Emily teaches courses in hearing conservation and occupational audiology, as well as clinical assessment.
After completing her Clinical Doctorate in Audiology from the University of Northern Colorado in 2010, Emily spent a year and a half as a dispensing audiologist at Hearing Rehab Center in Fort Collins, Colorado. She then added two years of experience as a clinical and dispensing audiologist as the owner of Cornerstone Audiology in Broomfield, Colorado, before arriving in Lincoln. Emily also continues to serve as a consulting occupational audiologist for Associates in Audiology, Inc., in Englewood, Colorado, a position she has held for nearly a decade.
