Faculty and staff from the Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders have recently been recognized for a variety of professional successes.

Steven Barlow, Corwin Moore Professor, was appointed as associate director of the center for Brain, Biology and Behavior. He will lead interdisciplinary research efforts in neurotherapeutics. He will also receive American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Honors at its November convention—the highest award given by ASHA for significant contributions to the field.

Cynthia Cress, was awarded the Alan T. Seagren Associate Professorship in Education.  The professorship honors an associate professor in the field of education within CEHS and provides support to advance his or her career toward achieving the rank of full professor with tenure.

Kelly Pritchett, assistant professor of practice, received the Service to Mankind Award from the regional Sertoma organization.  She received the Service to Mankind award from the UNL Sertoma Club earlier this year.

Mackenzie Savaiano, assistant professor of practice, received a grant from the Nebraska Department of Education to support the preparation of teachers for the visually impaired. 

Alex Trout, was recognized among the 2015 Service Awards for 10 years of service to UNL in the Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders.

Annette Wragge, autism network coordinator, received a grant from the Nebraska Department of Education to continue the Nebraska Autism Spectrum Disorders Network, which is housed at the Barkley Center.
