Masters Programs
Dear Prospective Master Student:
Returning to university as a graduate student is an important decision that reflects commitment to the serious, responsible work of being an educator in today’s world. The Department of Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education (TLTE) values your experiences and respects the choice you are making. TLTE invests in enabling educators from K-16 settings and educators working in community settings to build on existing experience, achieve a broad and deep understanding of educational practice, develop a professional identity, and engage in informed conversations about important teaching/ learning issues and considerations. TLTE offers a variety of courses and programs of study leading to a Master of Education degree or a Master of Arts degree. Both can be designed to meet your unique needs and interests. These programs draw from a wide range of courses offered by the graduate faculty within the department as well as courses offered in other departments across the College and University.
As a master student you will have the opportunity to develop an area of emphasis. These Areas of Emphasis represent faculty expertise and include a) Curriculum, Teaching & Professional Development, b) Education Policy, Practice, & Analysis, c) Literacy, Language, & Culture, d) School, Society, & Reform, and e)Teaching and Learning with Technologies. I encourage you to examine these links for faculty interests, courses, and research associated with each emphasis area. All master students are assigned a faculty mentor and a program of study is designed in conversation with a mentor to ensure individualized programs of study. I invite you to browse our website and familiarize yourself with our programs. Please contact me if you have questions.
Sincerely,
Margaret Macintyre Latta
