UNL Tech EDGE Mission

To create a generation of teachers who are effective and confident using new technologies to prepare the students of Nebraska to participate and lead in tomorrow’s global society. Our weekly video podcast about iPads in K-12 classrooms is available on iTunes U and on YouTube.

Goals

  1. To create a partnership between Nebraska school districts and Nebraska teacher education programs to improve student learning by informing teacher preparation students, university methods professors, and practicing teachers on effective use of new literacies and 21st century technologies in the classroom.
  2. To establish a blueprint for effective integration of technology into teaching and learning to empower students to meet educational standards and global challenges.
  3. To infuse current best practices and research to existing teachers as well as teacher preparation programs to improve student learning.

Our Recent Tech EDGE Conferences:

Tech EDGE 18, October 29, 2016

The conference is aimed at teachers and preservice teachers who are interested in learning new ways to use technology in the classroom to improve practice and make their students 21st-century learners. Classroom teachers and technology specialists will offer workshops including first-hand accounts of technology integration with students, teaching ideas, technical supports, as well as hands-on practice with tech tools. We will close with a collaborative session to imagine our future classrooms and how we can get there.

Tech EDGE Aurora, November 2, 2016

The conference is aimed at teachers and preservice teachers who are interested in learning new ways to use technology in the 1:1 classroom to improve practice and make their students 21st-century learners. In the conference, you will attend actual classes where classroom teachers are integrating technology with their students in real time. Gain teaching ideas and strategies for using iPads and Chromebooks in a 1:1 environment from experienced teachers. We will close with a collaboration session to debrief with  teachers and discuss your observations.
