History
The Nebraska Partnership is one of 60 projects nationwide selected in October 2001 for funding of $931,935 under a U.S. Department of Education Teaching American History Grant (TAHG). Grant awards were made to local education agencies to work in partnership with institutions of higher learning, non-profit history or humanities organizations, and/or libraries and museums. TAHG program goals are to demonstrate how such partnerships can collaborate over a three-year period in comprehensive professional development to provide high-quality American history instruction. The focus is on teacher development of knowledge and skills in teaching the entirety of American History in exciting and engaging ways to raise student achievement.
Goals
- To provide exemplary professional development for secondary American History teachers which increases teachers' knowledge of the entirety of United States History
- To improve teachers' effectiveness in American History with a variety of instructional methods proven to engage students and to increase student achievement

- To establish an ongoing network of American History colleagues throughout and beyond Nebraska
