Battle Creek’s History: A Legacy of the Past
http://bcps.esu8.org/history1.htm
Battle Creek’s History: A Legacy of the Past while only one page in length, offers the visitor a chance to view some local history surrounding Battle Creek. The limited information on this site is primarily in textual format and offers only a few pictures. What makes this a worthwhile site is in the external links that this site provides. With links to “More Native American History”, “Other Native American Websites”, and “Battle Creek’s WWII POW and His Experiences”, this site gives the visitor a chance to investigate further into the people and history that helped shape this area of our state (and country).

Nebraska Online
http://www.nebraska.gov
“The official website for the state of Nebraska…”
Nebraska Online is the state of Nebraska’s official online website, which offers the visitor access to information on every aspect of Nebraska and its government. One of the better aspects of this site is that it offers a “Facts About Nebraska” section where one can view interesting historical and factual information about the state. Operating primarily as a state government portal site, this site offers links to other websites that contain such information as Notable Nebraskans, Nebraska Blue Book, and State Symbols, etc… This state portal site directs the visitor to other state-run web pages, so the danger of misinformation, while still there, is minimal.

ROOTS-L Nebraska
http://www.rootsweb.com/roots-l/usa/ne/index.html
Divided not only into individual counties, but also local town histories, ROOTS-L Nebraska is a very good source for finding local histories for small communities. Following many of the links one can notice that the information predominately was taken from the Nebraska State Historical Society, and the book Andreas’ History of the State of Nebraska. While it is a very easy website to navigate through to find information pertaining to local towns, there are drawbacks to the site. As some smaller communities change their website URLs (or terminate altogether) it creates bad links, and while this site did have a “last updated” notice there were still a moderate amount of bad links. For the information contained though, this site is worth looking in to for Nebraska, county and town histories.
