Ulysses Township Library
The Ulysses Township Library has served its community since it opened in 1916. Throughout most of the 20th century it has received several living memorials to assist in the funding of more books and materials.

The library catalog is in the process of being organized into an online catalog, but right now it can be accessed through its card catalog format. The library is divided into sections of adult nonfiction, fiction, young adult reading, magazines, and children’s literature.

The library has a significant amount of reading on World War II available.
The library also has a historical booklet available on the establishment and growth of Ulysses. It was published in dedication of the community’s centennial (1867-1967).
Primary Materials Available
The library has current and weekly issues of local, state, and national newspapers.
Displayed in the Ulysses Township Library are several photographs of the town since its settlement. It shows the community’s main street and churches.
A book written during the Ulysses Centennial celebrations is available for purchase.

The pictures are available for viewing and the booklets are available through purchase or loan.
Rising City Community Library
The Rising City Library is located on the main street of Rising City and offers information about most community events.

Primary Materials Available
The Rising City Library has numerous pictures of its town hanging throughout its walls. It also has a few scrapbooks that contain information on highlights of community events and history. In the scrapbooks are newspaper clippings and photographs of various town members and activities.
Current newspapers are available from state and national publications.
Accessibility of Artifacts and Displays
All of the displays in the library are available for research purposes.
David City Public Library (Roman L. Hruska Memorial Library)
The David City Public Library is a new facility named in memory of its benefactor, Roman L. Hruska (1904-1999). Hruska grew up in David City and served as a U.S. Senator.

The library catalogue may be searched through the library’s online computer catalogue. A computer lab facility is available for accessing the online catalogue and internet.
The library is divided into sections of adult fiction & nonfiction, biography, young adult fiction, children’s literature, reference materials, and a reading area for current magazines and newspapers.
The Heritage Room consists of materials pertaining to the David City community, Butler County, and Nebraska. The Heritage Room contains a microfilm machine, a computer and a printer. Some of the materials are not available for circulation.

Topics of Interest for American History Education include:
Books on the subjects of Nebraska history and literature, such as books on the Husker Football team, the history of Nebraska counties and communities close to David City, William Jennings Bryan, J. Sterling Morton, Mari Sandoz, Willa Cather, Buffalo Bill Cody, and Nebraska immigrants and ethnic communities.
Bibles and hymnals in the Czech language come from one of the first churches in Butler County, as well as yearbooks from the Butler County communities of Rising City, Ulysses, Brainard, and David City.
Materials pertaining to the political career of Roman L. Hruska.
Civil War Times, 1974-1991.

Accessibility of Artifacts and Displays
Displays in the library’s display case rotate according to donations that are made. Currently a display shows artifacts from St. Peter and Paul Church, the first Czech Catholic Parish in Nebraska (located in Abie, Nebraska).

Librarians are available to provide information about the Heritage Room contents and equipment.

Many of the exhibits or displays are on loan from community members or county establishments (such as county museums).
