Fort Sidney Museum and Post Commander’s Home
Cheyenne County Historical Society
Cheyenne County Genealogical Society

This museum, constructed in 1870 as barracks for troops protecting the railroad, remains true to its historic roots. The bottom floor is dedicated to military history from the Ft. Sidney era to the Vietnam War. It features uniforms, equipment, photographs and maps. The upper level is reflective of the communities that settled the plains. Each room is dedicated to one of many themes: immigrant carpentry equipment; clothing; house wares; train depot; school room; bedroom; and a library. Just down the street the Commander’s home is also available for tours.
