The Alien Game
In this game, students are asked to articulate a sound (phoneme) unit and explain how it is made. An important emphasis in this game is on the explanation of how a sound is articulated in the mouth and throat. It is important to allow the students to use their own words to describe what they feel as they articulate the sound. The Construction Game
In this game, students are asked to create a Consonant Vowel Consonant (CVC) unit and transform it as the game progresses. An important emphasis in this game is on conceptual explanation of why the change was made and how the new word is spelled/read. In this game, students are asked to use letter tiles to build words, using picture clues. An important emphasis in this game is on combining phonemic awareness with letter names knowledge to create a unique word.
