I have had a diverse career beginning in news and sports broadcasting, but the majority of my professional life has been associated with school public relations and communications. It's gratifying to work in a field where the outcomes can directly affect the quality of educational opportunities for young people. I love the mission of education. It truly is the great equalizer in life.
I'm proud to work for an organization whose official mission so perfectly aligns with my own personal and professional goals: "The College of Education and Human Sciences is dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals, families, schools and communities and to strengthening the relationships among them."
My experience includes strategic planning for communications (including focus group and survey research), bond campaign planning and execution, writing for a variety of audiences and communication channels, video production, project management, governmental relations (lobbying), media relations, personnel management, crisis communications, public speaking, publication development and relationship management.
I am accredited in public relations (APR) through the universal accreditation board, have completed a 32-hour FEMA course in emergency management, and in 2017 received certificates of completion for training in public participation planning and techniques. I'm a doctoral candidate in educational studies through the Department of Educational Administration at Nebraska and expect to earn my degree in May of 2018.
