2 CEHS faculty receive Layman Awards to boost research

13 Jul 2022

Two faculty in the College of Education and Human Sciences have received awards to support their research in 2022-23 from the Office of Research and Economic Development through its Layman Awards Program. The program funds work that enhances a researcher’s ability to obtain external funding to support prominent scholarship.

“Research grants represent unparalleled opportunities to ensure that faculty have the resources they need to do the work they love,” said Sue Sheridan, CEHS associate dean for research and creative activity. “I’m very excited for Drs. Abbott and Kim – their work is extremely important and these Layman-funded projects provide an excellent means to garner funds that can be leveraged toward bigger, more expansive studies going forward. Congratulations, Dena and Taeyeon!”

The Layman Seed Program funds new projects by early-career faculty who are nontenured at the time of submission. Awards of up to $10,000 per application are made possible by support from the University of Nebraska Foundation.
