AFIRE continues strive for inclusive excellence, renews pledge program

28 Aug 2020

Faculty, staff and students in the College of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln will have an opportunity to increase their awareness and knowledge about diversity and inclusion issues through the AFIRE Pledge Program this fall.

First introduced in the spring of 2020, the AFIRE Pledge Program will feature a series of virtual events and activities throughout the fall semester. Individuals who participate in the AFIRE Pledge Program will commit to attend at least three events to increase awareness and explore strategies for inclusive excellence. Those who take the pledge will receive a poster, and each time a workshop is attended, they will receive a sticker to place on the poster as a visible showcase of their commitment to diversity and inclusive excellence.

Those wishing to make a commitment and obtain a poster can contact Stephanie Bondi, CEHS AFIRE coordinator and associate professor of practice in the Department of Educational Administration, at sbondi2@unl.edu.

For more information on the AFIRE Pledge Program, and a list of upcoming workshops, visit https://cehs.unl.edu/afire/.

The mission of AFIRE is to promote inclusion, respect and equity for faculty, staff and students in the College of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. AFIRE is funded in part through an Inclusive Excellence Development grant.
