CEHS grad collaborates with Häagen-Dazs Ice Cream

28 Apr 2015

Christopher Elbow, a 1996 graduate from the Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences, recently announced a collaboration between his specialty chocolate brand and Häagen-Dazs ice cream. Working with culinary professionals from across the country, the ice cream giant created its “Artisan Collection” of six new flavors, including “Spiced Pecan Turtle” from Christopher Elbow Artisanal Chocolates. According to the company’s Facebook page, the flavor is based on a chocolatey treat called Venezuelan Spice Turtles.

Elbow began his career in Kansas City at Shiraz Restaurant. He then went on to help chefs Emeril Lagasse open Delmonico Steakhouse and Jean Joho open the Eiffel Tower Restaurant, both in Las Vegas. Shortly after he returned to Kansas City and began working in pastry and chocolate-making before opening his own business.

Today Elbow’s store boasts locations in Kansas City and San Francisco, with all production taking place in Kansas City.
