Gurumurthy will present the next NGN Seminar Series Talk, January 23rd at Noon, Nebraska East Union

22 Jan 2013

Channabasavaiah Gurumurthy, UNMC Department of Genetics, Cell Biology, and Anatomy, will present the next NGN Seminar Series Talk, January 23rd at Noon, Nebraska East Union in the Sunflower Room (Brown Bag Lunch with Beverages and Dessert Provided).

Gurumurthy's talk is entitled, “Genome Engineering:  Concepts, Methods, and Advances.” Gurumurthy states that in his current position as the Director of the Mouse Genome Engineering Core Facility at UNMC, he oversees all operations related to design and generation of transgenic and knock-out mice models for various research groups. In addition, he spends significant time on researching in order to stay current with newer transgenic technologies and evaluating these technologies. His research allows him to improve and replace existing services as well as to offer these technologies as new services to clients. His long term research and career goals are: 1) to improve the existing genetic engineering methods and to develop novel techniques for manipulating the mouse genome; 2) to establish collaborations with experts in his field and to develop novel research programs; 3) to create novel mouse models that will be of wide use in basic and biomedical research; and 4) to educate and train junior researchers in mouse genome engineering concepts.

All interested faculty, postdocs, students, and staff are invited to attend this NGN seminar.
