16 Oct 2013

Dipra Jha, assistant professor of practice in Hospitality, Restaurant and Tourism Management, has been invited by the Nebraska Tourism Commission to present two training sessions at its October 23-25 travel conference in Norfolk, NE.

Jha’s presentations will focus on helping tourism entrepreneurs in rural Nebraska improve their business skills. He will cover accounting basics in a session titled “Hospitality Financial Management for Small Business,” followed by “Hospitality Business Plan 101” where he will teach how to create a business plan for rural or agriculture-based tourism.

Jha holds Certified Hospitality Trainer (CHT) designation from the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute. He has previously conducted similar training for Nebraska Rural Enterprise Assistance Program’s Women’s Business Center in Seward and is developing additional programs on hospitality marketing and service quality management.

Hospitality, Restaurant and Tourism Management is one of the fastest growing majors at UNL and resides in the Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences in the College of Education and Human Sciences. Tourism is Nebraska’s third largest earner of revenue from outside the state, after agriculture and manufacturing, generating more than $4 billion annually and supporting 45,600 jobs.
