Julie Lanxon, administrative associate  in the Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders, has been named the recipient of the latest Staff Star Award by the College of Education and Human Sciences Staff Council.

Lanxon has been with the department since 2014. In her role, she provides support to the department chair, schedules meetings, organizes events and manages curriculum. According to nominators, she has provided significant guidance to program faculty during the curriculum restructuring of multiple programs.

“Her knowledge of the curriculum process is vital to ensure approval at all levels within the university,” said one nominator.

Lanxon regularly meets with department staff to explore ways to maintain a positive work environment. She has also taken the time to observe different areas within the Barkley Speech Language and Hearing Clinic to increase her understanding of all of the moving parts and how those need to work together in order to keep the Clinic running successfully.

“She is one of those employees you can count on being there,” said another nominator. “She shows a desire to learn all aspects of our department and the roles each staff play within our unit.”
