Michael James lecture February 15: "Mutual Admiration: Collectors and Artists"

07 Feb 2012

Michael James, internationally renowned studio quilter and chair of UNL's Department of Textiles, Clothing and Design will speak about collectors and their relationships and value to the artists whose works they collect. In the quilt world, a real collector is rare, but those collectors are nonetheless important despite their limited impact on artists.

Ardis and Robert James certainly were in that rare breed of collector. Their purchases over the years from living artists, such as James, contributed to the coalescence of the so-called "art quilt movement" and helped numerous artists sustain viable studio careers.

This event is free with admission.
