As an Adjunct Professor in the School of = Transportation,=20 you will teach, develop materials and experiences, and = manage=20 a classroom and lab facility that provides students = with the=20 basic skills that are required to enter the automotive = industry as a technician in a dealership, independent = shop or=20 fleet facility using the standards put forth by LWTech = and the=20 National Automotive Technician Education Foundation.=20 (NATEF)
 
The ideal candidate will be able = to=20 combine technical expertise with supportive and = collaborative=20 learning attitudes and behavioral modeling that is = formative=20 to our students' success. Managing lab facilities and = budgets=20 to sustain the program and working as part of a = collaborative=20 team with other faculty and staff are key components = in this=20 position. This position reports to the program=20 dean.
 
The technical expertise that this = person=20 brings will be from the automotive industry that = possesses a=20 minimum of 5 years full time experience in the field, = in=20 addition to a record of formal transportation training = exemplified by AAS attainment, journeyman level=20 apprenticeship, or formal dealership = training.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • An earned AAS degree in Automotive Technology = from an=20 accredited college or equivalent.=09
  • Hold or be able to obtain ASE Master status = within six=20 months of employment=09
  • Hold or be eligible to obtain a state=20 professional-technical certificate to teach in the=20 automotive repair area.=09
  • Five years full-time related industry work = experience as=20 an automotive technician in a dealership, = independent shop=20 or fleet environment.=09
  • Valid First Aid certificate (with Blood-borne = Pathogens=20 and CPR) required upon hire=09
  • Valid driver's license and ability to perform as = a=20 driver on Washington state highways=09
  • Excellent written and verbal communication = skills and be=20 committed to customer service=09
  • Must be able to use computing resources for=20 communication, grading, resource retrieval, and=20 teaching/preparing of educational components.=09
  • Willingness to participate on department = committees.=09

Placement on the = faculty=20 salary schedule is based on an individual assessment = of=20 education and experience. Salary is dependent upon=20 qualifications (173 days) and as may be adjusted = according to=20 the faculty bargained agreement.
