In accordance with the U.S. Department of Education's new regulation (34 C.F.R.§ 600.9) regarding legal authorization to provide postsecondary education through distance or correspondence education in a state in which it is not physically located or in which it is otherwise subject to State jurisdiction as determined by the state, the University of Nebraska monitors developments in state laws in every state. Application Requirements

  • Hold a current Standard Teaching Certificate from Nebraska or a credential recognized as equivalent to a Nebraska Standard Teaching Certificate 
  • Provide evidence of a minimum of two years of full-time teaching experience at the grade level(s) relevant to the desired administrative certificate/endorsement
  • Provide evidence of the completion of acceptable Human Relations Training (or understand that TEAC 861 or other approved course will be added to the 36-hour program of study)
  • Provide evidence of the completion of acceptable Special Education Training (or understand that an additional 3 hours of course work will be added to the 36-hour program of study)

Needed for completion of the Graduate Studies application:

  1. Application fee ($50)
  2. One unofficial copy of college/university transcripts uploaded to MyRed (after students are admitted an official copy of their transcripts are required)
  3. Demonstrate English proficiency (if your native language is not English) by providing at least one of the following:
         •   paper-based TOEFL(PBT) score of at least 550
         •   internet-based TOEFL(IBT) score of at least 79
         •   International English Language Testing System(IELTS) score of at least 6.5
  4. Letter of Application (The letter should include professional goals, area of academic interest and why you chose to apply to UNL.)
  5. Resume (Please take this opportunity to highlight specific accomplishments and experiences.)
  6. Three letters of recommendation (It is a good idea to ask for letters from people who can speak of your accomplishments and academic potential. An ideal set of references would include: professors who have worked closely with you and people who supervised you in professional roles.)
  7. Copy of current Teaching or Administrative Certificate
