2012
My favorite and most memorable times at UNL were the Alternative Service Breaks with Dr. Linda Moody & the Center for Civic Engagement. I met so many amazing classmates during those trips, who all shared the same vision and goals in life as me. Throughout the years, many of us are still in contact and have gone on to do amazing things in life. I can confidently say that I would not be the person I am today without the students that I volunteered with.
For the past 6 years I have been in the events industry as an Event Manager. Just recently, I have moved into a IT Project Manager role.
The greatest impact the UNL gave me post-graduation was a community. This community not only includes Huskers but the greater Big Ten Alumni as well. Immediately after graduation, I moved to Boston, where I found the most amazing group of Huskers and an extremely supportive Big Ten network. It is a community that I know I can always rely on for any kind of advice, career advancement, and/or just to have fun.
First, join a club! It is a great way to find friends that will walk in a similar journey to your own.
Second, attend UNL events! There are so many great (free) opportunities on campus with stellar talent and production.
Lastly, visit the Multi-Cultural Center! The Multi-Culture Center has to be one of the coolest places on campus. It is a fantastic building to find a study nook and hosts some really great student led programs.
