Brief Biography

Emily is a third-year doctoral student in the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education, B.A. in English - Literature, and Middle Level Language Arts Endorsement from Kansas State University (2007). She completed her Master of Arts in TLTE at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln in 2016. Emily taught middle school language arts for eight years in Nebraska and three years in Kansas. She spent the majority of her teaching career with sixth grade students; however, she also taught seventh and eighth grade language arts. Emily is a certified K-6 general elementary teacher and a 5-9 middle level language arts teacher in the State of Nebraska.

Emily is a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education. She is also an Upper Elementary Professional Development Facilitator for the Nebraska Writing Project’s College, Career, Community Writers Program (C3WP).
