Funding & Financial Support

The application for TLTE Graduate Funding - both Fellowships and Assistantships - is available here on the bottom of the page.

Assistantships

TLTE graduate students can apply for a teaching and/or research assistantship if enrolled as, or planning on being, a full time on-campus student.  These are yearly appointments and must be renewed on an annual basis. Each appointment involves 19.6 hours per week employment in a teaching or research role (or a combination of the two).

Graduate assistants receive salary, tuition remission, and eligibility for some UNL benefits.  The deadline dates for complete applications are February 1st for an academic year appointment starting in the fall. These are available on a competitive basis and are limited each year by funds and additional available resources.

Full time doctoral students are given priority for department assistantships. However, full time Master's students are encouraged to apply as needs within the department vary from year to year.

Grant Funding

Periodically, the Department secures grant funds from state and federal sources to support graduate education and teacher preparation. When available, students may apply and be considered for participation only if they are admitted to the degree program and have earned Full Graduate Standing.

Department Fellowships

Prospective, newly admitted, or currently enrolled graduate students are encouraged to apply for annual Departmental Fellowships. The fellowships are one-time awards, varying in dollar amount with no work requirement. Fellowships may be available for part-time as well as full-time students. Deadline for application submission is February 1st.
