Current Research Focus

My current work is focused on analyzing qualitative data from the Ecological Approach to Family Style Dining (EAT-FSD) pilot study. From this, our team aims to develop a summative overview that highlights the strengths of the program along with suggested improvements and recommendations for the project’s implementation.

My other research interests are focused on families in different contexts.

  • I am currently part of research projects in Nebraska that explore parenting practices of migrant parents, and the quality of life of immigrants in different counties across the state.
  • I am also involved in a project that explores the challenges in rural communities such as the declining populations, outmigration of youth, and limited economic opportunities. This project aims to teach high school students with STEAM/Entrepreneurial skills to encourage teenagers to develop a sense of connection between their skills and opportunities within their local communities.

How project experience will help you achieve your future career goals.

My involvement in this project provides me with many learning opportunities about issues focused on families, especially the different environmental factors impacting child development (e.g., feeding practices and children’s attitudes towards healthful eating), and how this knowledge could potentially be translated into practice.

Top three strengths that contribute to the project.
  • Organizational skills
  • psychology background
  • conscientiousness
