John HastingsBS - Math Education and MS. - Educational Administration

Undergrad 1988 & Grad 1994
It was a general feeling of being supported by various members of the Husker learning community. From the professors who knew what to say to motivate me to do better. Athletic department staff who saw the student and person first before the performance on the playing field. Resident hall staff who made UNL a home away from home. Lastly, finding like-minded peers who encourage you to think critically and who you fostered lifelong friendships.
Secondary mathematics teacher and then school administration
Coming to UNL changed the trajectory of my life and opened many possibilities for my career and my family to experience. It is amazing what can happen to a first-generation college student at the University of Nebraska. With my Husker POWER education, I can nudge the trajectory of the lives of others towards successful outcomes, as my Husker family did for me.
Manage your time, independence requires responsibility, think critically and be open-minded.
