Alonso appreciates opportunity to attend NRF Foundation Student Program

Thanks to a Bright Futures Scholarship from the National Retail Federation (NRF) Foundation, University of Nebraska-Lincoln senior Zaira Alonso was one of several students from across the country who attended NRF 2024: Retail’s Big Show and NRF Foundation Student Program in January in New York City.

New short film, ‘The Diary of Michael Shiner,’ to premiere at Omaha Film Festival Feb. 29

Michael Shiner was an enslaved man who labored at the Washington, D.C., Naval Yard. He wrote one of the only diaries of an enslaved person known to exist. Based on his writings that span 56 years and cover politics, family and natural phenomenon, a new short film by a team of Husker scholars depicts the day he saved his wife from the notorious slave traders, Franklin and Armfield.

Husker students craft holiday window display for Sapahn: A blend of visual merchandising and consumer research

A group of students taking a course in the Department of Textiles, Merchandising, and Fashion Design (TMFD) embraced a unique challenge. Under the guidance of Associate Professor Jennifer Johnson Jorgensen, these students in TMFD 413/813 Merchandising III were tasked with creating a captivating holiday window display for Sapahn's brick-and-mortar store.
