UNL students intern at golf’s grand stage

A dozen students in the Hospitality, Restaurant and Tourism Management program are in Augusta, Georgia this week serving as interns at the famed Masters golf tournament. They will be greeters, valets, servers, point of sale operators and supervisors.

UNL to collaborate with Oman Tourism College

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has signed an agreement with Oman Tourism College to facilitate academic collaboration between the institutions.

The memorandum of understanding establishes a partnership in teaching, research, student exchange, faculty exchange, technology transfer, publication, curriculum development, joint projects and training.

Dipra Jha, assistant professor of practice in the Hospitality, Restaraunt and Tourism Management program, was invited to address members of the Nebraska City tourism group Destination Development Jan. 28 in Nebraska City. The workshop was a brainstorming session to develop strategies for the future of tourism in the southeast Nebraska community.

UNL Parents Association recognizes HRTM faculty

Dipra Jha and Shannon Rowen, both assistant professors of practice in Hospitality, Restaurant and Tourism Management, were recently recognized by the UNL Parents Association and the UNL Teaching Council for their contributions to students. They were honored during the 28th UNL Parents Association recognition reception on January 29, which celebrated faculty and staff who have made significant difference in the lives of students.

Jha presents on luxury hospitality in Thailand

Dipra Jha, assistant professor of practice in Hospitality, Restaurant and Tourism Management, recently traveled to Thailand to deliver a presentation on luxury hospitality in the Asian context. The event was hosted by Dusit Thani College in Bangkok on Nov. 25, 2015.

Eleven CEHS Students Earn Academic All-Big Ten Honors

Eleven CEHS students out of 51 Nebraska student-athletes have been awarded Academic All-Big Ten Honors. Students must be in their second academic year, be a letterwinner, and maintain a 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average to be eligible for the Academic All-Big Ten selection.

CEHS Student Research and Creative Activity Fair Nov. 14

CEHS undergraduate and graduate students will share their work with fellow students, faculty and other educators and community members Saturday, Nov. 14 at Teachers College Hall and the Henzlik Hub. Other UNL students and recent alums who have engaged in the study of education and/or human sciences have also been invited to share.

The aim of the conference is to give students an opportunity to showcase their work and dialogue with peers and mentors about important issues in education and the human sciences.

Major CEHS initiative invests in early childhood

Responding to changing demographics and a growing population of young at-risk children, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln today announced a strategic initiative to strengthen support for early childhood development in Nebraska.

Chancellor Harvey Perlman, Dean of the College of Education and Human Sciences Marjorie Kostelnik, Lt. Gov. Mike Foley and others shared the plans at the Van Brunt Visitors Center.

Carr to participate in CIC Academic Leadership Program

Tim Carr, chair of the Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences, has been selected to participate on UNL's latest team to attend the Committee on Institutional Cooperation's Academic Leadership Program. He'll join four other UNL fellows at the first seminar in November at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, followed by one in February at the University of Chicago, and the third in April at the University of Maryland. The Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs sponsors the UNL participation.
