Dipra Jha is an Assistant Professor of Practice and the Director of Global Engagement for the Hospitality, Restaurant and Tourism Management program. He is recognized as an expert in luxury hospitality and tourism strategy. Prof. Jha frequently collaborates with communities, government entities and private sector organizations in the United States and overseas on training and outreach projects. In 2013, he was invited by the Venetian-Palazzo resort in Las Vegas to be their first Professor in Residence. With 7,066 suites, the Venetian-Palazzo is the largest Five Diamond hotel in the world. It also has world’s second largest convention facility with 2.25 million square feet of event space. As Professor in Residence, Prof. Jha was able to study the operational systems and processes of this integrated mega-resort and bring that knowledge back into the classroom.  At UNL, Prof. Jha teaches courses in lodging management, guest services and hospitality law. He is a recipient of UNL’s University Distinguished Teaching Award as well as College of Education and Human Sciences Outstanding Teaching Award among other honors. A passionate advocate for experiential learning and global education, Prof. Jha has developed and led study abroad programs for UNL students to the United Kingdom, India, Oman and the United Arab Emirates. He is a member of UNL’s Stevens Initiative faculty cohort. The Stevens Initiative is an international effort to build career and global competencies for young people in the United States, Middle East and North Africa by growing and enhancing the field of virtual exchange. It is supported by the U.S. Department of State and the Bezos Family Foundation. Prof. Jha has also developed collaborations with institutions in Oman, China, Thailand, Turkey and Switzerland.
