Graduation and Program Completion Requirements

Dietetic interns must successfully complete the designated experiences and assignments related to each of the required accreditation competencies in order to receive verification of dietetic internship program completion.  In order to receive a certificate and verification of Dietetic Internship Program, interns are required to complete the following:

  1. Dietetic interns will satisfactorily complete all course requirements for NUTR 986 Graduate Seminar and NUTR 956 Community Nutrition and six additional graduate credit hours before beginning supervised practice experiences in January of the internship year.
  2. Dietetic interns must satisfactorily complete assignments and experiences for each rotation as designated in the curriculum plan during the supervised practice hours completed in the fall semester and the supervised practice component which occurs from January-August of the internship year.
  3. Dietetic interns will register for six hours of NUTR 875 Applied Dietetic Practice and Concepts.  In order to receive a final grade, the dietetic intern must complete all aspects of the program in a satisfactory manner.

 All interns who have successfully completed program requirements will be granted a Verification Statement of completion of the internship program and will be eligible to sit for the RD/RDN examination.  Each intern will receive copies of the Verification Statement, and copies will be retained by the department.
